My name is Mr Baird and I am the classroom teacher in Room 7. I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s teacher this year, and look forward to meeting you if I have not already done so.
The initial focus is on setting routines for the coming year to help build a safe, secure and exciting environment for learning to occur. The three values that underpin the culture of Room 7 are Respect, Excellence (I always give my best) and Resilience (I never give up). Your child will be able to explain these values to you in no time, what they mean, what they look like and why they are important.
To ensure everyone has the best opportunity to learn as they can, I place a big emphasis on praising and rewarding the behaviour we want to see more of, and putting boundaries around the behaviour we want to minimise. Your help at home is much appreciated; as a parent of three sons, I know parenting can be challenging at times!
We are swimming for the first 7 weeks or so this term (Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s), so your child needs togs and a towel on these days. We also have a day trip to Waihi Beach on Tuesday the 13th February (week 3) as part of our water safety program and will need 5 parent helpers to enable this trip to go ahead. Please contact the office ASAP if you can help.
Please feel free to phone or drop in to see me with any concerns or ideas you may have.Kind Regards
