A very warm welcome to Parents/Caregivers of Room 15 children.
My name is Larissa Koning and I am excited to have your child in Room 15 this year. This is my third year teaching at Fairfield Primary School and I love being part of the Fairfield community.
I have been thoroughly enjoying getting to know the children in the class over the past few days and I look forward to an exciting year of learning ahead.
Thanks to those who have already stopped by to say hello and I look forward to meeting the rest of you in the coming weeks. I believe that parent-teacher relationships are essential for helping your children to succeed at school. Room 15 has an open door policy so you are welcome to come and see me any time before school, after school or just to pop in and see what work your child has been doing. Alternatively I can be contacted via the school phone 07 8556284 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
This week we have been talking about rules, routines and expectations. These ensure that Room 15 is a safe and happy environment where our school values of RESPECT, RESILENCE and EXCELLENCE take place.
Swimming has begun for the year, and is part of the school curriculum. Our swimming days are Monday, Thursday and Friday. Please ensure that your child has their togs, towel and a plastic bag on these days.
Our first topic for this year is “Uniquely Me”. Students will be learning about caring for themselves, self-confidence and independence. Later in the term we will be going on a trip to ‘Jump’ as part of this unit.
Readers will come home Monday-Thursday, this is an opportunity for you to read with your children. Please note that the same reader will come home for two days to allow time for children to understand the text and feel confident as readers. It is very important that your children bring their books and book bags back daily. Starting in week 3 a homework sheet will be sent home on a Monday and is to be returned on Friday, this should be an enjoyable experience as it will be a recap of learning done in class, not any new work.
I am looking forward to seeing your child’s personal growth and progress throughout the year.
